Queens look for new legacy with Tapper to the fore
RUGBY: Bedford Queens coach Ashley Tapper is determined to create a new legacy at the club as they approach their centenary.
The Oxford Blue played five seasons for the Bedford Blues from 1992–97, before moving to Bedford Athletic, where he was a player and a coach until 2009,
He joined Queens in 2011 and is looking to build on the success of last season by developing the players within the current squad and attracting new and existing talent from the town.
He said: After a very strong second half of last season Bedford Queens RFC are hoping to start the forthcoming season in a positive and successful manner.
“Pre-season training has been going on twice a week since the beginning of the month and the mood in the camp is upbeat.
“Coaches Simon Fleming and I have decided on utilising some unconventional locations and methods during the summer months in an attempt to keep the players stimulated and on their toes.”
Training is at their Wentworth Drive ground every Monday and Thursday evening at 7pm and players of all abilities and experience are invited to attend the sessions.
Queens, currently in their 94th season, will be competing in Midlands Three East South next season.
For more information on the club and to express an interest in playing, contact chairman Tim Ayles on 07740 045882.
