Crowle satisfied with win
Rob Crowle
BLUES team manager Rob Crowle was satisfied with side’s performance after their 29-17 win over Plymouth Albion at a freezing Goldington Road on Saturday, writes James Heneghan.
Two tries from James Pritchard as well as one each for Mike Howard and Mark Kohler handed Bedford an important bonus-point victory.
Crowle said: “I thought Mike Howard was superb today on his 100th game. Pritchard was manful as captain – he took some excellent high balls and had a few words with the team when we started to slip so he was obviously very passionate against his former club.
“I also think the two new boys showed up well. They both did excellently even when Ben (Cooper) was carrying a knock. I thought (Darren) Fox was like a warrior throughout.
“We’ve got two games left until the play-offs so we’ve got to focus on those and hope it gets a bit warmer!”
Crowle also heaped praise on the Bedford groundstaff after they managed to get the game on following Arctic conditions all week.
He added: “The first victory was over the weather – I thought it was great to see so many people turning up to help. It just shows how important this club is to a lot of people.
“And also fair play to Plymouth because they wanted the game to go ahead and it turned out to be a good, entertaining game of rugby and we’re very pleased all-round.
“I think the pitch being in such great condition shows what a great job our groundsmen have done.”
