BLUES: Walshe praises professional Blues
Scrum-half pleased with deserved victory
Professional would probably be the best way to sum up Bedford Blues' 26-19 victory at Moseley on Saturday.
The contest was far from an open, attacking affair - the conditions simply didn't allow it - but the Blues defended solidly, made the most of what opportunities they created and kicked their goals and you can't ask for much more than that.
And scrum-half Nick Walshe agreed, saying: "It was a good solid performance. We pretty much controlled most of the game and it was a pity to concede that late try, but it was a heavy pitch and difficult conditions, but it was a good professional win.
"They're fighting for their lives and it was a good day in the office. We'd have likes a couple more tries, but you take these wins."
In a stop-start 80 minutes where seemingly everything was deemed worthy of the referee's whistle, the Blues controlled the majority of proceedings and played what rugby was on show.
"We played some really good stuff at times and tried to force things a bit," added Walshe.
"We felt that when we got our hands on the ball we could make some ground and the forwards worked really hard all game."
It would've have been too easy for the Blues to have taken their foot off the gas with a play-off place virtually secure before the game, but Walshe said that motivation was never going to be a problem.
"It was a good win on the road, some good teams have come and lost here, and the main thing was to win away from home."
