Nine lucky young riders saddled up for an intensive equestrian training session with two leading coaches ahead of a prestigious competition next month.

The fortunate fledglings aged between 16 and 21 were selected from local pony clubs and put through their paces by highly acclaimed equestrian coaches Ann Bostock and Nicky Tuner, before they get a chance to show off their skills at the renowned Carlton Horse Trials next month.

One of the young riders, Poppy Read, 18, from Sharnbrook, said: ”The day was hugely beneficial – I learned it’s the little things which can make all the difference. I have ridden since I was six but today I learned to ride in a different way.”

Scotts of Thrapston supported the event through their grassroots Rider Development Programme. www.scottsofthrapstonblog.co.uk
