Queens Works and Ampthill fish the Grand Union Canal
Queens Works AC joined Ampthill AC on the Grand Union Canal at Mill Road, Bletchley, last Sunday.
Ampthill’s Gary Spavins won the match on peg one with a net of small roach, taken on bread punch for a weight of 4lb 3oz 8dr. Queens took the next two places with similar catches of roach.
Ray Gaines was runner-up on peg three with 2lb 14oz and Paul Stokes third on peg two with exactly 2lb.
On peg four, Dave Pearson did not have a bite for four hours, but caught 1lb 3oz of roach in the last hour to win section one and also secure another victory for Ampthill.
In section two, all nine anglers failed to catch, but Percy Wills picked up the money as his number 13 was drawn from the hat. Richard Newman was awarded the wooden spoon for being the only angler in section one not to catch a fish.
