PREVIEW: Moseley v Bedford Blues

Looking ahead to tonight's British & Irish Cup action

The British & Irish Cup comes to a conclusion for the Bedford Blues tonight when they make the trip to Birmingham to face Moseley.

Last weekend's 17-15 victory against Aberavon gave the Blues a record of two wins and two defeats from their four pool games and director of rugby Mike Rayer wants to finish on a high note.

"There's not much riding on the game," he said. "It's about personal pride, it's a Midlands derby and we're going there to win.

"Hopefully the pitch there will be better than the last time we visited and we can play how we want to."

Despite being a dead rubber, the clash with Aberavon was a particularly competitive affair and Rayer says his team will approach tonight's game with the same mindset.

He continued: "We're not playing as fluently as we would like, but we have to be mentally strong and tough games out.

"Rotherham in a week's time is going to a really tough game and Moseley will halp us build towards that.

"We've got a few issues from the last two games to have a look at which we're fully aware of."

And while the game at Billesley Common is mainly about bragging rights, Rayer doesn't see it that way.

He added: "It's about winning at all costs. We're building towards something and it will round off a big week in our season.

"We won't be turning down penalties or anything like that, that's for sure."

After two games in four days, the Blues will leave selection until the last minute.

Luke Fielden and Ian Vass are likely to return with the only doubts surrounding Mike Howard (broken nose) and Dan Seal (eye infection).
