Potton tie for cup holders

Tough opening Beds Cup clash for Bedford Swifts

Bedfordshire Cup holders Bedford Queens will begin the defence of their trophy with a home tie against Potton.

Only eight teams have been entered in the forthcoming season's competition – higher level clubs such as Bedford Athletic and Ampthill have gone straight into the East Midlands Cup – and Queens are subsequently just two wins from the final.

Last season's runners-up Bedford Swifts face a tough trip to Luton to face Stockwood Park, Biggleswade will play host to Vauxhall Motors and Sharnbrook will entertain Kempston.

The winner of the Biggleswade versus Vauxhall Motors tie will host Sharnbrook or Kempston, while the victorious side from the Stockwood Park versus Swifts clash will be on home turf against either Queens or Potton.

The first round of the competition is scheduled to be played by Sunday, January 4 with the semi-finals pencilled in to occur before Sunday, March 1.
