Orthotics give Hatch a lift
Target man has a spring in his step
Recovering Hatters target man Liam Hatch is getting a spring back in his help thanks to some orthotics help.
Having been plagued by ankle injury, which has twice required surgery this season, the 27-year-old striker is worked hard to ensure that the problem will not come back.
An orthotics expert is busy working on special supports to go inside his footwear to avoid a re-occurrence of the injury, while also regularly working hard to strengthen his ankle.
He said: "Every morning when I get to training I'm getting there an hour early strengthening my ankle."
Hatch described how one of his bones was grating against another, scraping away fragments of bone and leaving him an excruciating pinching pain.
He continued: "I do a lot of jumping and landing so it's been wear and tear down the years
"The first time I went in the surgeon didn't feel he had to remove as much bone as he did in the second operation. There was still a little bit chipping away at the bone.
"I tried to play on it for a couple of games and it felt as if was getting worse and worse.
"I'm hoping it's fine now."
Hatch admitted it was a real drag not being able to join in training with his team-mates, but he is now hoping he's fine and he can make an impact on the pitch.
