Netball round-up: Team Beds lose out

Team Beds lost out 39-29 against Ipswich Ladies in Regional Division One on Saturday.

Team Beds started strongly with patient feeding into the circle by Georgina Sheridan at C and Emma Gardiner at WA.

Shooters Laura Gallagher and player of the match Bethany Dix held their ground against a tough defence with both shooters sinking goals as they led by three goals early on.

However, mistakes and missed opportunities allowed Ipswich to come back as they ended the firt quarter 11-10 up.

Team Beds immediately turned over the Ipswich centre pass from a fantastic interception by Sherma Joseph, new on court at WD, as Team Beds surged two goals ahead two minutes in.

Team Beds’ circle defence of Kayleigh Jean and Brogan Keenan continued to pressure the opposition shooters and force errors and interceptions but, having been four goals up, Team Beds led 20-19 at half time.

Both teams made errors at the start of the third quarter as Team Beds took time to settle into a new combination in attack of Emily Fensome, Georgia Richardson and Sally King.

Ipswich ended the quarter strongly to lead 26-23 going into the final period.

Team Beds reverted back to their starting shooters but took too long to settle back and seemed to crumble under the pressure of being behind.

Ipswich strode ahead by six goals as too many personal errors saw them fall to defeat.
