The Bedfordshire Schools Individual Tournament took place over half-term at Lincroft School, with youngsters battling it out for top honours.

County cadets Mahrukh Saeed (Goldington Academy) and Luke Manning (Lincroft) won the U11 girls’ and boys’ events, respectively – showing that they have bright futures ahead of them in the sport.

Rebekah Barry won the U13 girls’ event, while Josh Hallam (Lincroft) won the U13 boy’s title in a thrilling final – beating Kieran Harris (Harrold Priory) 11-9 in the fifth set after having lost to his opponent earlier in the day in the group stages.

Henry Simmons (Bedford Modern) was also victorious on the day as he won the boys’ U16 event, beating Zach Martillo in five sets.

Matt Evans was successful in winning the U19 boys’ event, beating Hei King Tsang (Bedford School) 3-0 with an impressive display in the final showdown. The successful players now qualify for the National Individual School’s Championship on 25th April at Tipton, West Midlands.
