A powerful Flitwick Dolphins team travelled to Dunstable and regained the Gareth Jeans Trophy in a closely-fought gala against Dunstable, Witney and Buckingham.
There were first places for Molly Bow in the girls’ 14&U breaststroke and ladies’ open breaststroke, both in new club record times.
Sam Dennis won the 12&U boys’ backstroke and freestyle, George Borthwick triumphed in the men’s freestyle, George Hart was victorious in the boys’ 14&U backstroke, George Maskell won the boys’ 10&U freestyle, Hayden Davies won the men’s backstroke, and Kai Boromeo was successful in the boys’ 14&U breaststroke.
Dolphins also dominated the relay events, with Olivia Fowler, Imogen Thompson, Charlotte O’Dell and Angel Davenport winning the girls’ 12&U medley relay.
Olivia, Charlotte and Angel then teamed up with Lillia Thompson to win the freestyle relay, before the 14&U girls’ team of Molly Bow, Rebecca Grogan, Helena Milton-Jones and Elidy Dickman also won both of their relay events.
Replicating this feat were the men’s open team of Hayden Davies, Ben Trott, George Borthwick and Chris Murphy, while the women’s open team of Gemma Trott, Molly Bow, Claudia Grant-Dawson and Rebecca Grogan won their medley event.
The 14&U boys’ team of George Hart, Kai Boromeo, James McFarland and Sam Dennis won their medley relay, and Sam also teamed up with Edward McFarland, George Maskel and Ben Rayner to win the 12&U boys’ freestyle relay.
The gala was a great experience for some of the club’s younger swimmers, with Eloisa Miller, Sophie Fowler, Holly Smith, Holly Cahill, Mari Cutler, Daniel Miller, Jake Hickmott, Zalan Velich and George Maskell all competing in the 10&U age group.
In all, the swimmers set 13 new personal best times and three new club records .
The victory will give the team great confidence leading up to the National League season later in the year.
