Riverside Tennis Club is launching a charitable foundation with the help of two GB Davis Cup players.

Danny Sapsford and James Auckland will be at the Goldington Road club on Saturday, February 7, for the Riverside Foundation’s fundraising launch.

From noon til 6pm the club the public can take part in tennis challenges, coaching clinics and enjoy exhibition matches.

The Riverside Tennis Foundation is the brainchild of director of tennis, Neil Frankel and aims to expand outreach and Talent ID programmes by using revenue from the clubs’ existing activities to fund the project.

More than 100 hours of coaching will be offered in local schools and there will be open sessions for adults, with hardship grants available.

Head of the Foundation, Nabeel Mardi said: “We want to give something back to our community, and what better way than to provide schools with professional coaching, give opportunities to potential champions, award grants to players who are struggling to realise their dreams and get more adults involved in the game!”
