The East Area Boxing Club fighter cruised to a unanimous points decision having outworked his opponent in each round and dumping him on the canvas in the second.

Speaking afterwards, he said: “We had a fight plan. It was to keep my cool, to box, but I saw a chink in his armour and so I just went for it.

Hornsby went for it from the get go, then stayed on the front foot throughout each of the four two-minute rounds.

Finucane was down at the end of the first although the referee deemed it a slip, however, there was no doubt about the knock down in the second that required the London fighter to take a standing eight count. Hornsby added: “I lost a contact lens in the first round it was all a bit of a blur after that, but you keep going on the adrenaline, the work that’s gone into get here, not just by me, but by my coach Sidney (Thompson) too.”

Also fighting on the undercard for East Area Boxing Academy were Michael Stephenson, who stopped his opponent in the first round, Dean Kumar, who won on points, and Jack Shayler, who was outpointed.
