Hockey star Tom on the mark for England

Bedford School student Tom Crowson, 16, helped the England U16 hockey side to a 5-1 victory in their final training match against Belgium.

England lost their first match 2-1, despite dominating the game for long periods of play.

The squad then stepped up their game in the second match, dominating the first half.

Despite a goal from Crowson in the 64th minute, however, they eventually lost 4-3.

But in the final match, the squad finally found their stride and recorded an emphatic 5-1 win.

The weekend was the second training session for the squad, who had faced also faced Scotland earlier in the month.

Again, they lost out in the first match but a much better display in the second game resulted in a classy 8-0 win.

Crowson was on target in the first half of the game as England went in 6-0 up at half-time.

The England squad now head to Santander in Spain for the final 4 Nations Tournament.
