Beds Road Club
The fifth round of the Central Cyclo-Cross League was hosted by the A5 Rangers and took place on a dry but bitterly cold day at Brackley.
A technical and compact course within the grounds of Magdalen College saw a good number of Beds Road Club youngsters race well.
Rosie Dunbar led the way in the U10s finishing seventh, followed by some spirited riding from Miles Varley in 16th, Joseph Hadsley in 20th and Rose Coggins in 23rd.
Angus Hudson was the lone club rider in the U12s, finishing eighth.
The youth race was held on the full cyclo-cross course, Jan Laming riding well to finish 20th.
A total of 82 riders finished the main Junior/Senior/Vets/Women’s race. Burgeoning youngsters Isaac Anstee proved more durable this week – having faded on the final lap in the previous round after putting in a superb performance – leading the club’s riders home in 31st and finishing third Junior overall. Isaac was delighted to have beaten his dad Mark who followed in 34th.
Geoff Cooper ploughed home in 38th having led Mark for a number of laps, only to be overtaken on the final lap. Sid James rolled in 67th and Dave Olney, returning to cyclo-cross after a brief hiatus, finished 75th.
