Money wants to eradicate indiscipline
Hatters boss looks to take the positives from entertaining draw
Divided Town boss Richard Money admitted that he needs to get rid of the indiscipline in his ranks after his side threw away a two-goal lead against promotion-chasing Cambridge United today.
Luton had to settle for just a point as they were robbed of victory by a second penalty in the second minute of injury time and, while Money felt there were plenty of positives, he also declared that they need to be more disciplined in key areas.
He said: "Yes I'm frustrated, yes I'm annoyed but I'm not about to go anywhere and destroy people. There's a lack of discipline about us at the moment, which I need to eradicate very quickly at key moments and ridiculous moments.
"I thought it was an absolutely fantastic game of football. Cambridge played their part but I thought our performance was fantastic.
"It had everything, a swirling wind, a wet day, an almost full house, and a great atmosphere and it was a great advert for Conference football.
"I hope that everyone here will remember it was a tremendous performance by our team and a great game.
"I'm not going to deny there is an air of disappointment there but we need to take the positives. It's about where we go from here.
"It was a great atmosphere. It really was, and long may it continue."
But he admitted: "It's two very important points dropped."
Most of the action came in the second half, but Money felt his side should have been ahead in the first 20 minutes.
He said: "We probably should have been in front. A couple of set plays where we got in each other's way."
And he hailed the way the Hatters performed for much of the second half, saying: "It was an interesting afternoon.
"The first thirty minutes of the second half we were sensational."
Money was also delighted with the goals from Claude Gnakpa and Tom Craddock.
He continued: "It's always nice when a set play comes off like that.
"The second goal was a great strike from Tom Craddock and a great team move.
But he was disappointed with the goals Luton gave away, especially the first, and the penalties they conceded, but also praised Cambridge and their boss Martin Ling.
On the first goal, he said: "From the touchline it's difficult for me to legislate for someone giving the ball away in that dangerous area of the pitch.
"It was two ridiculous challenges (for the penalties), end of story. Whether you catch them or whether you don't, you give the referee an open book to give the penalty.
"You've got to give Cambridge credit and give Martin Ling credit. Two positive substitutions to give them a little more thrust. I'm not disappointed by the way we played in the last 10 minutes but credit to Cambridge."
