Money looks to strikers

Money focusing on strikers

Goal-hungry Hatters boss Richard Money is looking for two of his strikers to put themselves forward as the Hatters' first-choice pairing.

With many of his forwards having been plagued by injury and illness Money is now looking to settle on a prime pairing to help fire Luton to promotion.

Money seems likely to give target man Liam Hatch and the promising Matthew Barnes-Homer the chance to make the roles their own, but admitted they need to start banging in the goal – and quick.

He said: "Strikers gain their confidence from stability and some faith and belief from the manager.

"Maybe we've reached that stage where a pairing needs a chance to cement their position.

"But we are also at that stage of the season where you can't wait forever.

"Sometimes you make your choice and see what happens. None of them at the moment are scoring goals and saying: 'I want to be in your team'."

Hatch has struggled with a persistent ankle problem while Barnes-Homer is still recovering from an illness he came down with over Christmas.

On-loan Dagenham & Redbridge striker Mark Nwokeji has suffered similarly from injury while Kevin Gallen has also had spells on the sidelines this term.
