Meade leaps nine place

Talented table tennis star Alex Meade has jumped nine places to be ranked number 36 in the U15 English Table Tennis Association’s Listings for November 2011.
The 14-year-old Bedford Modern School Year 10 pupil has also gone up 22 places to number 109 in the U18 rankings and appears for the first time in the Senior Men’s Table Tennis Listings at number 313, which include 1,200 players.
Fellow Modern student, Year 11 pupil Nishanth Narayanan, 16, has risen 11 places to number 115 in the U18 rankings and Year 7 pupil Ollie Webley, aged 11, has gone up 25 places on the U13 list to enter the top 100 for the first time at number 97.
Year 8 pupil Henry Simmons, 12, has jumped 10 places and is now ranked 64 in the U13 listings, while the biggest jump has seen Year 9 pupil Charlie Brinicombe, 13, leap a massive 190 places to 290 in the U15 listings.
Paul Birch, table tennis Coach at BMS, added: “These results reflect the hard work and practice put in by the BMS table tennis players this year.
“This will act as a springboard for further major table tennis competitions in the New Year, especially the English Schools’ Table Tennis Team Championships in January 2012.”
