Luton link up?
Eagles philosophical over Walker's future
Bedford Town manager Ady Williams is hoping that Dan Walker's proposed move to Blue Square Bet Premier side Luton Town could be the start of a healthy partnership between the clubs.
Walker impressed Hatters boss Richard Money while in a Bedford shirt during the pre-season friendly at the Eyrie earlier this month.
The winger was offered a trial by Luton and appeared in the 3-1 victory over Marlow on Thursday, leading Williams to believe he will be staying at Kenilworth Road.
The Eagles manager said: "It's sad, but he has gone to Luton, and I think they are very keen on signing him.
"I can't stand in his way and Dan is grateful to me for giving him the chance against Luton. If Dan signs for Luton then great, and hopefully he can go on to play first team football.
"If not, then maybe he will be out on loan and might be able to come back to Bedford. I have a good relationship with Richard Money and hopefully it will lead to us being able arrange a few loan deals during the season."
Williams faces some tough decisions this week, after his side lost 1-0 against Boston Town at the weekend.
The Eagles boss fielded a number of trialists as Bedford were beaten by Ollie Pinne's first-half header.
He said: "I need to make a decision on the trialists and have a chat with them later in the week.
"It was only fair as after a long week of running, we felt it was only right to give them a game so I could see them in action."
Bedford were also in action last Wednesday, losing 2-1 to a strong Charlton Athletic side. Robbie Miller had a penalty saved, before Tamer Tuna put the Addicks ahead in the second half. Craig Daniel equalised only for Ben Davisson to seal victory.
Eagles continue their pre-season at Arlesey Town on Saturday and then host Peterborough on Wednesday, but Williams insists he will learn more from their weekend trip.
He added: "The Charlton game was good, but I'm more worried about the performances in the games against the likes of Boston and Arlesey.
"It's easy to get yourself up for games against the professionals as even I would be excited about playing in those matches, but these other matches are our bread and butter."
