Luton Ladies batter Bedford

Women's football round-up

A comprensive 6-0 victory against Bedford booked Luton Town Ladies their place in the final of the Bedfordshire County Cup.

The game was goalless until the 42nd minute when Candice Davies' 20-yard shot was too hot for the keeper to handle and rolled over the line after she had initially blocked the effort.

After that the floodgates opened, as skipper Michelle Byrne produced a perfect hat-trick, made up of a header and left and right foot strikes.

Byrne then set up Laveena Betts to make it 5-0 and Davies added her second with a neat finish late in the tie.

Town's reserves came from behind against their Tottenham Hostpur counterparts in the Greater London Women's League Cup, winning 3-1.

Stephanie Anes converted a penalty to cancel out Spurs' opener and Jade Doherty put Luton into the lead midway through the second half.

The tie was then made safe when Becky Lyons scored on her debut.

Luton IIIs continued their title claims with a 2-1 win over Headstone Manor.

Kelly Moss scored from the penalty spot with Alice Burbury netting the winner.

Town's U16s moved into a strong position in the Chairmans Cup as they eventually overcame a spirited Harvesters side 5-0.

Katie Davis scored twice and there were goals for Mirella Tambini, Jess McKay and Holly Sheridan.

Harvesters were also the U15s' victims as they beat the St Albans side 7-1.

Sam Osborne and Michaela Green both bagged braces with Jody Whitford-Stark, Rachel Kosky and Lydia Radley also on target.

There was cup joy for the U11s who bagged the solitary goal in extra-time to defeat Enfield, with Joanne Weaver netting the all important goal.

Meanwhile, the U10s went down to a single goal against title contenders QPR, while the U13s suffered their first defeat of the season at Spurs.
