Luton Rifle & Pistol Club's Rosebowl to go to shoot-out
Shooting round-up
Winner of the Luton Rifle & Pistol Club's annual Rosebowl competition remained undecided this week, when two entrants tied for first place – and resolved to go for a future head-to-head shoot-out to decide the victor.
The Rosebowl event calls for three different disciplines – Precision, Service and PP1 – to be contested, which require a good variety of skills, from slow and precise rifle shooting through to quick-fire action over varying distances from 25 yards to just 10 yards.
Everyone is required to shoot some 64 rounds of ammunition, the .22 calibre rifles all being fired from a standing position without support.
No one competitor dominated the event, and several of the fancied runners made costly mistakes.
As a result, the consistent scoring of Andy Livingstone and chairman Tony Cattermole put them out in front, three points ahead of Paul Howes.
