Lucky seven for Vauxhall
Badminton round-up
Vauxhall Medley C managed a clear 7-2 win at home against Challney Badminton club last Friday.
Georgina Clark and Chin Wijethilaka opened the night with an impressive 21-10, 21-9 win, which was to set the tone for the night.
This success was closely matched in the following two mixed games where an outstanding performance was put in by newly-acquainted substitutes Helen Kemp and Mei Sheng Kai, who beat their mixed opponents 21-2, 21-14.
The ladies games were a lot closer with Challney picking up two points, to make it 4-2 and, with three mens games still to go, there was everything to play for.
Mei Sheng Kai did not disappoint in the men's games, though, this time with partner Chin.
The game was a short one with the Vauxhall pair taking the win in 21-7, 21-3.
Team-mates Chin and Barry Impey also took victory with a 21-11, 21-16 win.
Even though Challney had already lost at this stage, with the score standing at 6-2, they went down fighting, winning the first rubber of the last men's game 21-18.
But this did not worry Mei Sheng Kai and Impey who came back to win the last two rubbers convincingly, 21-14, 21-17.
