Newcastle Falcons head coach Dean Richards has backed the Bedford Blues to make the play-offs at the end of the season.
The former Premiership side were pushed immensely hard by the Blues at Goldington Road are Saturday as they triumphed 29-20 in a hard-fought game.
He said: “Without a doubt Bedford will be there come the play-offs. They are a quality side who play a good brand of rugby.
“The style that Bedford play is one which, when the grounds harden up at the end of the season, will be a real test for us, although in fairness I thought the pitch was in fantastic condition last weekend when we went down there.”
Former England international Richards was full of praise for the work done by Bedford director of rugby Mike Rayer, but believes there is plenty more still to come from his side.
He added: “Our players felt we played at about 60 per cent, but in a lot of ways that is a credit to Bedford because they only allowed us to play to that.
“Mike Rayer and his coaching team have done a superb job, and they will be there come May pushing us every inch of the way.”
