Blues go in to Saturday’s game off the back of a narrow 18-20 victory over Nottingham last Sunday and Rayer claims his side need to improve on their performances last time out.

Rayer said: “We never look further ahead than our next challenge so we can’t get ahead of ourselves at the minute but we’re pretty disappointed with our performance against Nottingham last Sunday.

“We’ve got a few things to work on, we’ve seen a lot of promising things already this year but we still need to work on our consistency throughout our performances.”

Blues have had a fine start to 2016, with five victories extending their winning run to eight games in all competitions but they face a tough test as they prepare to welcome Jersey to Goldington Road.

Rayer added: “Jersey are a very good side, they have experience of winning here before and they will be very tough to beat as they’ve proved on many occasions before both home and away.

“They have quality in many positions, especially the forwards who are playing well at the moment but we’re looking forward to the opportunity of turning them over despite the short turn around for us.

“We will prepare the same way ahead of the Jersey game and hopefully get a response as we want to redeem ourselves after a disappointing display against Nottingham.”

The Blues are set to make a number of changes from the squad who played Nottingham last Sunday, with Dean Adamson being ruled out after picking up an injury in the last game.
