Lions roar to double

Beds basketball team oust Shenley

Youngsters from Bedfordshire Lions U17s roared to success for the second year running by claiming double gold in the league and play-off competitions.

The Lions once again ousted Shenley to win the U17 BBJL title and the play-offs at Mandeville Sports Centre, Aylesbury.

In the semi-finals against AGS, and with both sides fielding three 6ft 4ins-plus players, Lions claimed a hard fought 32-27 victory.

And, in a repeat of last year's final, the Lions met Shenley who they beat 24-19. Lions dominated the floor, with strong rebounding from Olabiyi Bolinwah and Jordan Stewart along with great ball control and finishing by Josh Lydon and Connor Washington.

The squad was: Reiss Haggith, Washington, Kyle Hinckley, Ambrose Muzawazi, Mataeusz Lesniak, Sumaila Kotomah, Devon Moore, Bolarinwa, Michael Chinedum, Lydon and Stewart.
