Promotion-chasing Lidlington slumped to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Soulbury Village as they were dismissed for just 68 runs on Saturday.

In this top of the table clash, Lildlington elected to bat first and were completely blown away by the pace attack of Soulbury Village.

Only NadeemAhmed (20) and David Manyweathers (15) reached double figures against the fine bowling of Ash Hussain (3-8) and David Chamberlain (4-24).

In reply, Nadeem Ahmed, with a spell of 4-12 in 10 overs, reduced Soulbury to 28-5, giving Lidlington some hope.

But a stubborn innings by opener Nick Carter (31 n/o) saw Soulbury through to a five-wicket win, clinching their promotion to Division Five of the Morrants Four Counties Cricket League.

Lidlington remain in second place in the division, with next week’s final match against Newport Pagnell being a game they must win to have any chance of filling the second promotion place.
