James' reward is a mirror

Angling round-up

Fishing overnight at Beckerings Reservoir near Flitwick for the first time, Bob James was rewarded with a 21lb 3oz mirror on a A2D sweet plum pop up with a cell stick.

Kevin Chadfield fished Woodlands Lake where he caught five carp, a bream and a 3lb tench – the first reported so far this year from this prolific tench water.

Other anglers at Woodlands are catching plenty of roach to 10oz along with regular bream.

A lot of the excess water that had flooded the platforms has now been pumped out so that most swims are fishable again.

The next two work parties are at North House Lake on Saturday, where a stone path will be created to the new gate.

The following work party will be at Beckerings Reservoir on March 21 to rebuild two platforms.

Visit www.lutonac.org for work party details and a registration form or contact Dave Edwards at the club office on 01582 728114 or Joanne Edwards on 01582 603466 or 07903 048280.

Anyone partaking will not need to pay the 10 work party levy when renewing their membership for next season.

A very limited number of Luton AC Winter and Spring Membership Packages are still available, which are valid until May 31.

Prices are 35 for adults, 22 for intermediates, 20 for OAPs and the disabled, 48 for husbands and wives, 10 for U16s and family packages 43 and 53.

>> Tingrith Fishery

A mirror weighing in at 17lb 14oz and six other fish were caught at Orchid Lake next to an overhanding willow at Tingrith Fishery this week.

They were fished on a Mainline pineapple and banana shelf life, with a small bag of crushed boilies and a scattering of whole ones in the general area and caught fishing about four feet from the island.

Meanwhile, a 16lb 3oz common was one of only two fish taken away from the island, fished next to a gravel bar using two pieces of fake corn, one yellow one white, soaked in betalin for months with a size 10 hook to critically balance on the lake bed with a small bag of crushed pineapple and banana and N-Gage XP boilies.

A total of nine catches have been reported from the venue and the others are a 2lb tench, 6lb ghostie, 3lb common, 8lb 4oz mirror, 9lb 3oz common, 7lb common and a 10lb common.
