HOCKEY: Ladies still in danger

The latest action from Bedford Hockey Club

Bedford Hockey Club's Ladies 1st XI remain just above the Midlands Premier League drop zone after their 2-2 home draw with Olton & West Warwicks Ladies 2As at the weekend.

The hosts flew out of the blocks and couldn't have got off to a better start. They took the lead inside the opening two minutes when Kate Costin sent an instinctive reverse shot into the bottom corner for her fifth of the season.

And Bedford were soon 2-0 up when Sherie Skene struck home a short corner which deflected and wrong footed the Olton keeper.

But it wasn't long before Olton started to gain a foothold in the game and, after putting themselves back into contention before the break, they scored an equaliser with ten minutes of the match remaining.

Captain Heidi Langley was in great form for Bedford, who next travel to Kettering.
