Young hockey stars at Goldington Academy are celebrating being crowned county champions.

The U13 Girls clinched the title after defeating all teams in the competition, scoring a total of 33 goals in five games and not conceding any goals.

The girls have been working hard and attending regular training sessions in preparation for their tour to Cardiff at the end of the month. The team have been busy fundraising to raise cash for their kit and meals whilst away on tour and this weekend sees another bag packing session at Tesco in Bedford.

The Goldington team will be playing clubs from South Wales including Gwent and Abergavenney HC as well as enjoying additional team building excursions such as climbing, quad biking, go-karting and archery.

Their coach, Amy Camfield, said: “The girls are a pleasure to coach. They are committed to hockey and are all team players. They thoroughly deserve the win after all their hard work at training.”

One of the players said: “Today was great! We all played really well which meant we won. The schools we were against were Aston, Alban, Lincroft, Robert Bloomfield and Linslade.

“The scores against teams played were Aston 4-0, Alban 12-0, Lincroft 7-0, Robert Bloomfield 6-0, Linslade 3-0.

“We had a wonderful time and managed to become County Regional Champions!”
