Hall chat helped seal Craddock U's move

Town striker joins up with former team-mate

A conversation with former Hatters midfielder Asa Hall helped to convinced Tom Craddock to move to League Two Oxford on transfer deadline day.

The 23-year-old striker signed for the U's for an undisclosed sum on Tuesday having told Hatters boss Richard Money he wanted to leave before an offer had even come in.

He said: "I found out Oxford had made their interest known to Luton at the weekend and I couldn't wait to talk to the manager.

"Once I got to meet him I was keen to sign before the deadline came.

"I spoke to Asa and also having played two games against Oxford last season, I knew that they had a lot of good players so I was pleased to able to come and join.

"It's a three-year contract and in that time I hope we can have a lot of success. I can't wait to get into training on Thursday."

Town had paid Middlesbrough 80,000 for the striker's service in January 2009 and completed the deal just before the 6pm deadline.

Craddock aid: "We were at the Kassam Stadium and time was ticking down and once five o'clock came it looked as if we might be too late.

"Thankfully it got pushed through and I can't thank the people who did the paperwork enough."

He now joins Hall and Simon Heslop, who was on loan at Luton last season, at the Kassam Stadium, and manager Chris Wilder hopes Craddock will help to give the U's the cutting edge they have been missing.

Wilder said: "That's why I have been working my tail off and thankfully we have got somebody we think will score goals

"I have admired Tom Craddock for a long time. He comes with a pressure of having to score goals, but his record is a good one.

"Hopefully he can finish the chances we are undoubtedly creating.

"That's why I've brought in Tom from Luton.

"He's a proven goalscorer and he will hopefully solve some of our problems at the moment, because otherwise we're all right and playing well.

"It's just the final ball, when we've got into a good area, and not putting the chances away, that is letting us down."
