Wyboston Lakes GC

Bradley Pearson triumphed in Wyboston Lakes GC’s Junior January Medal with 33 points from runner up Sam Hindmarsh who scored 21 points.

In the Men’s January Saturday Medal, played last Saturday, there was a win for John Burgoyne (62 nett), from runner-up Peter Watts (67 nett) and Sid Fuller (70 nett) in third place.

Lowest gross on the day was also scored by Watts (76).

The Winter Bowl, played last Sunday, was a par competition and saw a win for Gavin Hamilton with +7 on countback from Rob White, while Brian Hedge was third with +4.

The ladies team competed in the first round of The Daily Mail National Golf Club Classic Competition at The Cromwell.

The match saw some excellent golf despite difficult conditions and was a very tight affair. The opening match went to the home team as Amanda Rawson was defeated, but Jo Nice won the second match of the tie.

Lady captain Irene Abri suffered a defeat in the third match, but Sophie Mills came back from three down with four to play to score a vital half point by winning the 18th hole.

The final match saw another very tight finish with Nikki Morris securing a win on the final hole to take the tie into sudden death extra holes.

Morris then scored a fantastic birdie on the second extra hole to take the match as Wyboston ladies progressed into the second round.
