FOOTBALL: SSML & UCL
The latest footie action
Former Bedford Town winger Jonathan Woolf scored on his debut for AFC Kempston Rovers as they beat Wootton Blue Cross 3-0 in UCL Division One at Hillgrounds on Tuesday night.
Aaron Baldwin's 29th minute goal put Kempston in front, but they were unable to seal their victory until the closing stages.
Woolf's 83rd minute debut goal extended the home lead and Baldwin rounded off the scoring a minute from time to make it nine wins in ten games for the Walnut Boys, who are fifth in the league table.
On Saturday, Rovers' fixture at Eynesbury Rovers was abandoned at half time with the score level at 1-1 and a waterlogged pitch meant Wootton's trip to Olney Town was postponed.
This weekend, Rovers host leaders Peterborough Northern Star and Wootton Blue Cross, who now sit 10th in the table, visit bottom club Burton Park Wanderers.
In SSML Division One Cup action on Tuesday night Ampthill Town, who have reached the final for the past two seasons, fell at the semi-final stage this time around, going down 2-0 at home to London Colney.
In SSML Division One this coming weekend, Bedford Town Reserves host Tokyngton Manor, Bedford FC visit Amersham Town, Cranfield United are at Sport London e Benfica and Ampthill Town host Brache.
