Bedford Town ended Egham Town’s eight-game unbeaten run on Tuesday evening as they romped to a 4-1 victory over the title chasers.

Another debutant caught the eye, as 17-year-old Dominic Morgan-Griffiths bagged a brace and warmed the travelling support with his display of dazzling skills.

Bedford took the lead in the 23rd minute as Morgan-Griffiths nipped in to intercept a back-pas, and had the simplest of tasks in knocking the ball into the empty net.

The Eagles increased their lead in first half stoppage time when Ben Farrell unleashed a thunderbolt of a shot, and 2-0 turned into 3-0 in the third minute of stoppage time.

Morgan-Griffiths latched on to a long pass from just inside the Bedford half, before beating Jamie Norris and slotting the ball into an empty net.

Bedford added a fourth goal on 70 minutes. Leroy Griffiths was fouled on the right wing, and when the resulting free-kick was played into the area by Matt Clifford, the veteran striker was there to rise and glance a header into the net to put the result beyond doubt.

The home side did get a consolation goal a minute into stoppage time, when Aaron Morgan fired a low effort inside the right hand post, giving Eagles keeper Ashley Harris no chance.

The win puts Bedford over the 40-point mark and up to 13th in the division. Next up for the Eagles is an away match on Saturday, when they travel to Ware FC for a 3pm kick-off.
