Renhold back on top in Bedfordshire League

Renhold United find themselves back at the Bedfordshire League summit after netting their sixth win on the bounce with a 2-0 victory at now second from the bottom of the table Sandy.

Having lost the Premier Division supported by Sportsform top spot after Shefford Town & Campton won at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College in midweek, they reclaimed it with Mark Reed netting in the opening half and Aran Hazelwood doubling the scoreline in the second period.

For third place Marston Shelton Rovers it was an extension to their season’s unbeaten away ways with a 6-1 victory at Ickwell & Old Warden. Dan Threadgold giving the home side an early lead before four goals from Jamie Cerminara alongside strikes from Darren Allen and Lee Dudley saw the Rovers stroll to victory.

Still holding down fourth are Flitwick Town who chalked up their third win on the bounce with a 2-1 home win over Wilstead. Dan Stafford and Jim Lewis netted the vital goals against a Wilstead reply via Adam Budek.

Just a point behind them in fifth place are the still unbeaten AFC Oakley M&DH who ran out 4-2 home winners over Wootton Blue Cross. Matt Barnes, Mark Smith, Steve Kuhne and Ali Smith marking their scorecard against replies via Phil Matthews and Ian Buckingham.

Elsewhere there were away wins for both Sharnbrook and Pavenham. The boys from Lodge Road climbing up into seventh spot following their 6-2 win at Caldecote. Shaun Barnett with a brace being supported by strikes from Leon Taylor, Jordan Baxter, Alex Strange and Richard Ball against home replies via Conor Smith and Lewis Giddings.

Pavenham lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with a 2-0 victory at AFC Turvey who were losing their third consecutive home match. Tom Rodger and David Netherway netting the goals to do the damage.

Taking over that bottom slot are Lidlington United Sports who were beaten 3-1 at Eastcotts AFC. Ollie Watson twice plus Glen Tumulty from the penalty spot finding the back of the net for the home side against a lone reply from Ben Marwood.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford

Still sitting at the head of the Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford table are Henlow who retained their seasons 100% record with a 7-0 home win over Bedford SA.

Russel Ayles and James Campbell both netted twice alongside strikes from Josh Thomas, Jake Berry and Keith Milburn.

Now in second spot just three points adrift but with a game in hand are Elstow Abbey who retained their own 100% seasons record with a 6-2 win at AFC Harlington. A goal down in the 8th minute thanks to a home goal from Jack Archer the Abbey with two strikes from Callum Davenport and a goal from Danny Pilgrim were to go 3-1 ahead before the home side reduced the arrears to just a single goal when Scott Gadsden netted from the penalty spot 20 minutes into the second period.

Abbey however were to ensure the full three points were theirs with three goals in the closing 10 minutes, first Davenport completed his hat-trick before Andy Klein and Ed L’Erario both found the back of the net.

There was also a big win for Meltis Albion who ran out 5-0 home winners over Queens Park Crescents thanks to a hat-trick from Alexis Kamenan and single goals for Dan Smith and Alex Smith.

Elsewhere, the Potton Town v AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves game will be subjected to a Bedfordshire FA inquiry after the referee abandoned the game with less than 10 minutes to play after a home player allegedly refused to leave the pitch side after being red carded. At this stage the visitors were leading 4-1 with goals from Anas Bechkoum, Tim Manomano, Paul Obuch and Keegan Roberts against a home strike from Paul Mijalski which would have lifted them up into second spot in the league standings.

Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup 1st Round

The result of the day belonged to Riseley Sports who will now face a trip to St Joseph in round two after netting a 1-0 home win over South Midlands League side Stotfold Reserves thanks to a strike from Karl Walker.

Elsewhere it was away wins all the way, Great Barford with goals from Owen Layton and David Mulvhill against a reply via Joe Fallano winning at Marabese Ceramics to earn a home round two tie against Wootton Blue Cross U21. Whilst Cranfield United will now visit Barton Rovers U21 Development B after winning 2-0 at Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Liam Whitmee-Craig fired them ahead in the 68th minute before Jordan Appleton headed home goal number two four minutes from time.

For Sundon Park Rangers, it will be a trip to Meltis Albion in round two after winning 3-1 at Luton District & South Beds league side Square FC. Matt Conway netting twice and Nicky Buttigeig to do the damage.

Division Two

Westoning’s lead at the head of the division two league table is now up to five points after they maintained their seasons 100% record with a 4-1 home win over Moggerhanger United. Tom Cooksley with a brace being supported by strikes from James Lovett and Bryn Reynolds against a lone reply via George Tyrer.

With second place Elstow Abbey Reserves away on cup duty Meltis Albion Reserves failed to climb above them by being beaten 3-2 at FC Houghton. Lawrence Taylor twice plus Edwin Ike on the home scoresheet against replies from Sheldon Washington and Josh St Clair Pierre.

Down at the other end of the standings Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves lifted themselves off the bottom of the league table with a thumping 7-1 home victory over now basement club Kempston Con Club Sports. Antony Henman with a hat-trick, Carl Borromeo with a brace plus goals from Harry Baker and Valiant Muddkwani only being replied to once by Shaun Copperwheat.

However, the biggest win of the day belonged to Bedford United who ran out 9-1 home winners over Caldecote Reserves. Tom Wade with a hat-trick, Jamael Dixon and Aaron Perrett with braces plus a single strike from Adam Wodecki doing the damage against a lone reply from Simon Ashton.

The lone away win of the day belonged to Clapham Sports who won 6-2 at Kempston Athletic. Liam Bolton with a hat-trick, Grant Williams with a brace and a single strike from Neil Larman only being replied to twice by Gary Whitbread for the Athletic.

The Renhold United Reserves v Kempston Hammers encounter finished all square at 4-4. Josh Cowley, Josh Burnapp, Dean Hains and Michael France on the United scoresheet against Hammers replies from Dan Havil twice plus an own goal and Sunnie Sandhu.

Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup 1st Round

The biggest win of the day belonged to Caldecote U20 who ran out 11-0 home winners over Luton District & South Beds League side North Sundon Wanderers to earn a trip into Luton to face Square FC A in round two. Ben Gibson netted four times, Jamie Richardson twice to go with an own goal plus single strikes from Ben Melrose, Trueman Keeble, Tom Dupey and Ben Smith-Ruddick.

There were even more goals at Jubilee Playing Fields where Wilstead Reserves drew 6-6 with Luton District & South Beds League Luton Leagrave AFC B before winning the penalty shoot-out 4-2, Hanni Thiarra with a hat-trick being supported by single goals from Liam Philip, Callum Evans and Robert Tanner to earn a home tie in round two against Stevington who won 4-0 at Dinamo Flitwick. Aaron Fletcher with a brace plus strikes from Sam Nightingale and Tristan Clarke did the damage.

Also requiring a spot kick victory to earn a home round two tie against Kempston Con Club Sports were Elstow Abbey Reserves after 90 minutes play had seen them deadlocked 2-2 at home against Flitwick Town Reserves. Ollie Banfield and Daniel Reed shooting the Town 2-0 ahead in the first half before goals from Dave McCarthy on 55minutes and They Tompkins brought about the spot kick shoot-out during which Abbey goalkeeper Jake Edwards become the hero with two saves in a 3-2 win.

For Atletico Europa it will now be a trip to Westoning in round two following their 4-1 home win over Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves. Ishmnel George, Kane Alexander, Garfield Nelson and a Yasmin Demir penalty only being replied to by Ross Adam for the visitors.

Alas it was the end of the road for Sandy Reserves and Moggerhanger United Reserves to Luton District & South Beds League sides, LU Four netting a 2-1 home win over Sandy for whom Stephen Pugh netted. Whilst Moggerhanger United Reserves had just a lone goal from Sean McDonnell to show for their 10-1 home defeat at the hands of FC Polonia.

Lea Sports PSG despite a goal from Will Tyler were to lose 2-1 at home against JC United.

Division Three

The new leaders of the division three league table are Cranfield United Reserves following their 7-1 home victory over Westoning U20 to retain their seasons unbeaten ways. Ben Thompson netting four times alongside single strikes from David Adderson, Adam Constable and Jordan Conway against a lone reply from Adam Franklin.

Now in third spot are Clifton after they ran out 3-1 home winners over Shefford Town & Campton A. Joe Marshall netting twice and Andy Harvey once against a lone reply from Sam Larsen.

Whilst for Mid Beds Tigers it was a 1-0 win at White Eagles to move up into fourth slot. Jack Truett netting the vital goal
