Ampthill Town Youth FC U10s beat off stiff competition to win the MK City Colts Cup tournament for a second year running.

The team, managed by Lee Gudgeon, beat arch-rivals Parkfield in a nail-biting final that went to penalties.

Ampthill took an early lead and looked set to win the Cup until a last minute goal by Parkfield took the final to extra-time and then penalties.

But holding their nerve, Ampthill’s outscored Parkfield in the shoot-out to win 5-4.

Ampthill played seven games in total during the tournament and the team didn’t lose one.

Gudgeon said: “I am very proud of all the boys. They played very well and it was a great tournament. We faced some tough teams but the boys held their nerve.”

He added: “It’s fantastic to win the Cup again and add more silverware. It’s going to be a great new season in September.”

Ampthill U10s will be increasing their squad in September when they move to a 9v9 format in the Chiltern Youth League.
