Smith’s recovery going to plan

Hatters midfielder Jonathan Smith is on track for a return next season, unless he makes a stunning recovery, writes Mike Simmonds.

Smith suffered a double leg break during the 2-1 win at Barnet on Boxing Day as boss John Still said: “I’ve seen him, he’s good and has been in for treatment.

“He’s better than expected, but it’s going to be next season, barring a miraculous recovery.

“Sometimes people are back three or four weeks before you think, which might take in a bit of this season, but in our minds it’s next season.”
