Bedford Town secured a morale-boosting 1-0 victory at home to a Peterborough United XI on Monday night.

Posh fielded five players with first team experience for the friendly but the Eagles were able to record a clean sheet as Luke Knight grabbed the only goal of the game from a free kick.

It goes some way towards erasing the painful 9-0 defeat inflicted on the Eagles by a strong Luton Town side on Saturday.

Four up at the break, a second half hat-trick from Jack Marriott increased the margin of victory.

Town have welcomed three new faces to The Eyrie - and three more current players have commited to the club.

Matt Clifford, Ben Farrell and Marcus Campbell have all signed on for one more year.

Meanwhile Danny Watson and Phil Draycott have signed from St Ives Town where they had helped the club to promotion through the play-offs last season.

Midfielder Jaiden Irish has been snapped up from Stotfold, for whom he had made 117 appearances.

The Eagles make the short journey to Bedford FC on Tuesday, July 26.

They kick off their Southern League campaign at Farnborough on August 6 and follow that with home games against Royston on Tuesday, August 9 and Northwood on August 13, while on August 16 they visit Kempston Rovers.

On Boxing Day they visit Arlesey Town.
