Hatters pair up for penalty taking duties
Town striker Jon Shaw
Striker Jon Shaw admitted he wouldn’t say no to shouldering Town’s penalty-taking responsibilities after the Hatters again missed from 12 yards at the weekend, writes Mark Wood.
Stuart Fleetwood did superbly to win a first half spotkick but, with number one taker Scott Rendell sidelined through injury, he could only thunder his effort against the bar.
Town missed numerous times from the spot last season, but Shaw believed Fleetwood deserved his chance after winning the spot-kick, although he put his name into the hat for taking them in future.
Fellow striker Andre Gray would also be interested in having the job, saying: “Everyone wants to score, I would rather it be me but I don’t mind setting other people up either.”
