Groundhop day as Renhold remain unbeaten

It was the middle game of the league’s annual hop before a crowd of 119.

All the damage was done in the opening six minutes with goals from Mark Reed and Jason Allison.

For second place AFC Oakley M&DH it was win number four on the bounce with a 4-1 home victory over Caldecote. Jack Hoogstraten, Elijah Hukin, Andrew Latimer and George Cox netted the goals to do the damage against a lone reply from Callum Owen.

Just three points behind them in third are AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College who recorded win number three on the bounce with a 3-0 home victory over Cranfield United. Tim Clarke was on the scoresheet twice including one from the penalty spot and Courtney Boughton once.

In fourth place are Flitwick Town who closed the league’s hop day before a crowd of 151 with a 3-0 home win over bottom of the table Eastcotts AFC.

Ollie Banfield fired them ahead in the 5th minute before Daniel Stafford doubled the scoreline 13 minutes later. The third goal arriving eight minutes from time via Jim Lewis to make amends for his earlier first half penalty miss.

Elsewhere there was a first home win of the season for Marston Shelton Rovers to take them up into fifth spot via a 2-1 victory over Elstow Abbey who are still looking for their first away points of the season. Carl Borromeo and Dean Reid were on the Rovers scoresheet before Abbey’s Grant Williams netted from the penalty spot just three minutes from time.

However, perhaps the win of the day belonged to Ickwell & Old Warden who maintained their seasons 100% away record by winning 3-1 at Shefford Town & Campton who were thus losing their own unbeaten home record for the season. Chris Clark shot the home side ahead before goals from Dean Hamilton, Ricky Aris and Conor Green won the day for the visitors.

The day and the league hop had all begun at Lodge Road in the morning where hosts Sharnbrook shared the points in a thrilling 4-4 draw with near neighbours Pavenham.

Before a crowd of 125 it was the visitors who were the quickest out of the blocks with Nick Payne netting twice inside the opening 11 minutes to shoot them 2-0 ahead. Then just six minutes later Will King pulled a goal back for the home side before the game was held up for several minutes due to what turned out to be a broken leg for Pavenham’s Tim Bowers following a tackle by David Mulvihill who somehow escaped with just a yellow card.

Within a minute of the restart Pavenham were 3-1 ahead when Jack Harding netted but just six minutes later the scoreline read 3-3 thanks to a brace of goals from Mulvihill before Pavenham went back in front on the hour mark via David Netherway, a lead that was to last just 10 minutes before Ian Strange completed the scoring to make it 4-4.

Bedfordshire FA Senior Trophy 1st Round

Ampthill Town Reserves had just a goal from Phil Matthews to show for in their 3-1 defeat at current trophy holders Crawley Green who will now journey to Potton United in round two.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford

There is no change at the head of the Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford league table following wins for the top three sides.

Stevington remain just goal difference clear at the summit after they maintained their unbeaten start with a 3-1 home win over Queens Park Crescents. Joe Holyoak, Aaron Hewitt and Kieran Souter were on their scoresheet against a lone reply via Tony Milioto.

Whilst second place Sundon Park Rangers kept their unbeaten record intact with a 3-2 home win over Henlow. Shaka Anderson was on target twice including one from the penalty spot and joined on the scoresheet by Chris Mapp against Henlow replies via Antony Bowskill from the penalty spot and Keith Milburn.

In third spot just a point adrift are AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves who were 5-1 home winners over AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves. Taylor Bakogeorge scored a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by Joe Price, Paul Obuch and Anas Bechkoum to bring up the nap hand against a lone reply from Ryan Murphy.

Now up into fourth place are Westoning who still remain unbeaten on home soil this season following their 7-1 victory over now bottom of the table Houghton Athletic.

Sam Child led the way with a hat-trick and was joined on the scoresheet by Bryn Reynolds, Tayler Clayton, Michael Armitt and Lewis Wilson against a lone reply from Jordan Thomas.

Fifth place now belongs to Ickleford who ran out 2-1 winners at Potton Town. John Vooght and Romano Marabese netting the goals against a Town reply from Chris Cooper.

Elsewhere there was a first home point of the season for Riseley Sports after they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Meltis Albion, Josh Poole the home marksman against an Albion reply via Ben Smith.

Division Two

The new leaders of the division two league table are Cranfield United Reserves who maintained their 100% record with a 5-0 home win over Kempston Athletic. Nick Mentiply led the way with a hat-trick, joined on the scoresheet by Daniel Bullen and Ben Martin to bring up the nap hand.

Now up into second spot are Lea Sports PSG who remain unbeaten this season after winning 5-1 at Wootton Village. Ryan Durrant and Ryan Darby both netted twice alongside Sean Dixon against an own goal in reply for the Village who are still awaiting their first win of the season.

Dropping off the top spot and now in third place are Cople & Bedford SA who were beaten for the first time this season when losing 2-1 at Clapham Sports. Nathan O’Halloran and Antony Farr scored the home goals against a lone reply from Ollie Hughes.

Now in fourth are Kempston Hammers Sports who maintained their unbeaten home record in a 1-1 draw with Flitwick Town Reserves. Jimmy Grandidge scored for the Hammers and Scott Gadsden replied for the Town.

Whilst Bedford United jumped up from seventh to fifth place when winning 4-0 at Elstow Abbey Reserves to maintain their seasons 100% away record. Damien Curtis was on the scoresheet twice alongside single goals from Giuseppe Lamberti and Tyrelle Mack.

Elsewhere there was a return to winning ways for Atletico Europa who ran out 3-1 home winners over second from bottom of the table Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves, Tadej Yankovic with a brace plus Kane Alexander scoring the goals to do the damage against a lone Rovers reply via Robert Taylor.

Division Three

Wixams remain six points clear at the head of the division three league table after making it five wins out of five with a 6-2 home win over White Eagles. Gareth White netted four times alongside single strikes from Iain Hall and Jonny Cockram against Eagles replies via Marcia Ptak and Mateusz Dybikowski.

Now in second spot are Wilstead Reserves who won 6-3 at Caldecote Reserves. Ryan Davenport and Sam Ward both scored twice alongside goals for Christan Zekele and Callum Evans with the home replies coming via an own goal and strikes from Jamie Richardson and Joe Rowley.

Whilst now in third spot are Shefford Town & Campton A who were 2-1 home winners over now bottom of the table Sandy Reserves. Michael Castle and Lewis Norwood bagged the goals against one in reply from Ricky Geers.

Just goal difference behind in fourth spot are Sundon Park Rovers who dropped down from second place by being held to a 2-2 draw at AFC Dunton who still remain unbeaten on home soil this season. Chris Mattingley and Lee Adams were on the home scoresheet against a brace in reply from Rovers Chris Scott.

Whilst just goal difference behind the Rovers in fifth place are Dinamo Flitwick who netted their first away win of the season when winning 4-2 at Meltis Albion Reserves. Dale Goldie led the way with a hat-trick and joined on the scoresheet by Ben Hannam against home replies via Josh St Clair Pierre and Mark Levy.

Elsewhere there was a first home win of the season for Clifton who ran out 3-1 winners over Renhold United Reserves. Charlie Watson, Dale Houghton and a Joe Marshall penalty only replied to by a lone United goal from Nathan France.

Division Four

Mid Beds Tigers now head the division four league table and remain 100% for the season after winning 7-1 at Bedford Albion. Tom Hunt with a brace was joined on the scoresheet by Rob Gaylor, Luke Rudd, Daniel Whitten, Luke Clark and Dave Smith against a lone Albion reply via Daniel Jefferies.

Just goal difference behind them in second spot but having played one game more are Polonia Bedford who were 6-3 home winners over Stevington Reserves. Marian Sobczyk and Dariusz Siowinski scored braces joined on the scoresheet by Filip Otocki and Bartosz Sekretarski against Stevington replies via Clinton Tatham, Cameron Cain and Joe Khalums.

Third place now belongs to Staughton after they maintained their unbeaten away record by winning 7-4 at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College A. Craig Thomas netted twice and was joined on the scoresheet by Scott Boswell, Mark Darlow, Paul Franklin, Lucas Banton and Lindsey Smith against home replies from Jack Connolly, Scott Dummett, Jesse Sidhu and Giovanni Moscaritolo.

Elsewhere there was a first home win of the season for Caldecote A who ran out 4-2 winners over Westoning Reserves, Chris Richardson, Paul Rannow, Rafe Goodman and Jack Stragg netting the goals against replies via Ben Hymus and Sam Roberts.

Whilst Flitwick Town A were enjoying their first away win when winning 5-2 at Henlow Reserves. Cody Roberts scored twice and he was joined on the scoresheet by Dan Howarth, Kevin Higby and Ben Stones against home replies via Andy Harvey and Sam Juty.
