Beds League leaders fall to defeat

The result leaves them just a single point clear of the non-playing second place Renhold United in the Premier Division supported by Sportsform, who have now played five games fewer and just six points clear of fourth place Flitwick who have also played those five games fewer. For fifth place Marston Shelton Rovers it was an extension of their unbeaten away ways up to four games with a 3-0 victory at Sandy who are still looking for their first home win of the season. Jack Weedon netting twice and Jamie Cerminara once to do the damage.

The biggest winners of the day were Caldecote who ran out 4-1 home winners over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College. Ahead in the 12th minute via a strike from Dan Fennell they were to double the scoreline when five minutes later Jordan Goodman sent a free kick from all of 40 yards flying pass Town goalkeeper Drew Holyoak and it appeared to be game over when headed goals from Scott Haddow in the 32nd and Matt Basta three minutes later took them into a 4-0 lead by half-time

However, just five minutes into the new period Town were thrown a lifeline when Goodman was yellow carded for the second time in conceding a penalty and given his marching orders, alas for the Town home goalkeeper Dan Hall beat out Josh Sturnino spot kick to preserve his sides four goal margin which was then only to be reduced just the once in the 63rd minute when Sturnino made up for his spot kick miss too at last get the better of Hall and make it 4-1.

With Lidlington United Sports having their home game against Wootton Blue Cross waterlogged off they now find themselves back on the bottom of the league table after Ickwell & Old Warden climbed above them following their 3-2 home win over Pavenham to record their third win on the bounce. Michael Rushton with a brace plus an own goal on the home scoresheet against replies via James Owen and Dave Netherway.

Elsewhere Eastcotts AFC ended their run of four consecutive away defeats by sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Wilstead, Paul Jones netting the home goal and Harvey Puddifoot replying for the visitors.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford

There is no change at the head of the Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford league table following wins for the top two clubs. However, league leaders Elstow Abbey did require a 90th minute winning strike from Callum Davenport to see off Shefford Town & Campton Reserves at the Warren to take their unbeaten ways up to eight games. Danny Pilgrim giving the Abbey a first half lead before Scott Rennie appeared to have claimed a share of the spoils for the visitors until that late invention from Davenport arrived just in time.

For second place Henlow, thanks to a lone strike from Russell Ayles it was a 1-0 win at Queens Park Crescents and with Cranfield United having their game at Marabese Ceramics waterlogged off they now drop down into fourth spot after Great Barford leapt above them by winning 7-2 at Bedford SA to take their unbeaten ways up to 11 games.Gary Canzano netting twice and joined on the scoresheet by David Mulvhill, Patrick Mulvhill, Reuben Hukin, Elijah Hukin and Owen Layton against home replies via Paul Nigro and Justin Muircroft.

Elsewhere, AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves’ home woes continued when they failed to win for the sixth consecutive time on home soil when beaten 5-1 by AFC Harlington. Stephen Garner with a hat-trick plus strikes from Jack Archer and Scott Gadsden bringing up the nap hand against a lone home reply from Deep Banghard.

Also enjoying life on the road were Potton Town who. thanks to a brace of goals from James Pyman, won 2-0 at Riseley Sports who were suffering their first defeat in six outings.

Whilst having lost their last four games Sundon Park Rangers returned to winning ways with a 4-0 home win over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Skaka Anderson coming off the bench to net a second half hat-trick and joined on the scoresheet by Samuel Kehinde.

Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup Quarter-Finals

It was home wins all the way in the Bedfordshire FA Junior Cup. The biggest of which belonged to Bedford United who netted a 6-1 victory over Kempston Athletic. Jamaal Dixon with a hat-trick supported by strikes from Owen Ward, Guiseppe Lamberti and Aaron Van Horne against a lone reply via Richie Andrews.

Just a goal behind them were Cranfield United Reserves who emerged 5-0 winners over Moggerhanger United. Daniel Mclaren with a brace failed to collect his hat-trick when missing from the penalty spot joined on the scoresheet by Phil Kempsell, Jordan Conway and Philip Distin who showed Mclaren how a penalty should be taken to bring up the nap hand.

Elsewhere, Stevington thanks to a brace of goals from Aaron Hewitt and a strike from Kieran Souter were 3-0 winners over FC Houghton but it was the end of the road for Westoning who were beaten in a penalty shoot-out 5-3 at Luton District & South Beds League side Caddington Rangers Reserves after 90 minutes play had seen the sides deadlocked at 2-2. Bryn Reynolds and Lewis Wilson netting for Westoning inside normal time and Wilson plus Shaun Cooksley and Cody O’ Neill from the penalty spot.

Division Two

Following six straight defeats it was a return to winning ways for Caldecote Reserves with a 5-2 home win over bottom of the table Wilstead Reserves who are still looking for their first win of the season. Luke Prietzel shooting the visitors in front early before a brace of goals from Jake Bruce saw the home side lead 2-1 at the break. Second period action was to see goals from Andrew Spiers, Bruce to complete his hat-trick and Simon Ashton take Caldecote 5-1 clear before Matt Johnson for the visitors netted the games final goal.

After losing their last four games Renhold United Reserves stopped the rot by sharing the spoils in a 4-4 home draw with Elstow Abbey Reserves. Michael France netting twice alongside single strikes from Josh Burnapp and Lewis Debb for the home side against Abbey replies via Andy Klein twice plus Myles Ferraro and Rob Mirto.

Elsewhere it was an end to Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves winning ways of three games when beaten 1-0 at home by Wootton Village. Adam Flynn netting the goal to extend the Village’s unbeaten away ways up to four games. Whilst Meltis Albion Reserves have now lost their last six games after being beaten 1-0 at Kempston Hammers Sports whose lone goal came from Dan Havill.

Division Three

With Cranfield United Reserves away on cup duty Lea Sports PSG took full advantage to climb back over them onto the top of the division three league table with a 3-1 home win over White Eagles who were duly losing their seasons 100% away record. Will Tyler, Richard Randall and Lascells McGowan on the PSG scoresheet against a lone Eagles reply from Marcin Czuba.

Holding onto third spot and still very much in the promotion race are Flitwick Town Reserves who took their unbeaten ways up to seven games by winning 4-1 at Shefford Town & Campton A. Benn Ward, Mark Bartlett, Chris Bull and Ryan Hill all finding the back of the net against a lone home reply via Sam Larsen.

Also still in the promotion race are Clifton who returned to winning ways to take over fourth spot from the non-playing Dinamo Flitwick with a 5-1 home win over bottom of the table Mid Beds Tigers. Charlie Watson netting three times to go alongside single strikes from James Bennett and Jake Brown against a lone Tigers reply from James Webb.

With their games in hand Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves also remain in the promotion race despite their hopes taking a knock after being beaten 4-3 at FC Serbia who are now unbeaten in their last four starts. Demilson Conceicao with a brace plus Mustair Alom and Milan Marusic on the home scoresheet against replies via Ashley Drummond twice and Marko Tobdzic once for the visitors.

The scheduled Westoning U20 v Atletico Europa game was waterlogged off.
