EAGLES: Nuneaton 4 Bedford 0

Bedford came away from Warwickshire for the second time in three days without any points on Tuesday as they lost 4-0 to Nuneaton.

And to add to the latest misery, Jon Darby was given his marching orders.

Lee Howarth fielded the same starting 11 from the Leamington game and a surprise inclusion on the bench was Eddie Lawley, who has been making good progress since breaking his jaw.

It proved to be a busy night for the Bedford defence, with Jamie Cole blocking the ball on the line after seven minutes, prompting loud claims that he had handled.

It wasn't all Nuneaton, though. Ian Draycott saw his low shot go just wide of the mark in the 23rd minute. Just before the half hour mark, Cole, again, blocked a goalbound attempt, denying a header from Guy Hadland.

Jon Darby was in action at the other end with ten minutes of the half remaining, directing a volley just wide of the right hand post.

But the last five minutes of the half proved disastrous for the Eagles.

Darby received his first yellow card for an innocuous tackle before Nuneaton took the lead on 43 minutes. Kyle Storer took the ball from a free kick and planted an unstoppable shot past Mike Armitt. Worse was to come for the Eagles when Stuart Pierpoint headed home from a corner two minutes into stoppage time.

The second half was virtually all Nuneaton, and a third goal came six minutes into the half when Gareth Dean headed in from close range following a corner.

Darby's tackle on Eddie Nisevic on 56 minutes was the last action from the defender as he secured a second yellow card.

Ten-men Bedford held out until the 80th minute when Storer set up Lee Moore. Just before the endDarren Acton denied Phillip Draycott when put through.

Bedford are one point above the relegation zone and must maximise home advantage against Stourbridge tonight (Thursday)and Oxford on Saturday.

There will be a fans forum at the Eyrie on Monday. Chairman, David Howell will be answering questions from 7.30pm
