Dutch delight for students

Football students win every match on Holland tour

Students at Manshead School were given a special opportunity over half term as they went on a football tour around the Netherlands.

Two teams, the U15s and U16s, were taken on the tour with both of them winning all their matches.

The students were also given the chance of touring the Phillips Arena, the home ground of PSV Eindhoven.

Greg Cook, who took the teams on the tour, said: "It was both a memorable and enjoyable experience.

"The facilities were fantastic and it was a great achievement to win every match."

Overall the teams played four matches visiting grounds at WSJ Tilburg and SV Loosdrecht.

U15 captain Charlie Tickell said: "The football tour to Holland was absolutely brilliant. We stopped becoming just Year 9s, Year 10s or Year 11s, and became a squad.

"We were all socialising together, which helped us out a lot on the pitch. It has definitely been beneficial in the sense that our footballing abilities have been developed and we can put that into good use when we play future fixtures."

Cook paid tribute to the students, adding: "Well done to the boys for a brilliant tour, they've represented Manshead School superbly.

"They should all be proud of themselves."
