Duo battle hard at Blakes
Smith and Litton tie for 31st place
The Bedford Golf Club duo of Sam Smith and Mark Litton tied for 31st place at the PGA East Anglian Open at Blakes GC last week.
The event was won by Dunstable Downs head pro Darren Charlton who carded rounds of 69 and 69 for a 36-hole aggregate of four-under-par 138, one shot ahead of the trio of Andrew Collison, Mark Davis and Brett Taylor. Litton was in a good position after the first round with his 69 leaving him three shots off the pace, which was set by Taylor and Mark Baker.
However, a poor second round of 77 saw Litton fall away to finish well down the field.
Smith had a consistent couple of days, shooting 73 on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Defending champion Daniel Poulter had a poor tournament, finishing in a tie for 41st place after rounds of 74 and 74.
