Dolphins swim to medal haul
ELEVEN Flitwick Dolphins swimmers competed at the East Region Championships over the last month, seven at youth level and four at age group (9-14) level.
Some excellent swims saw Carl Halford gain fourth place in the 400m freestyle, and seventh in the 200m freestyle.
Georgina Curtis had an excellent championships, reaching the finals of the 200m individual medley (IM) and the 200m backstroke, placing seventh in both events, and also swimming to sixth in the 400m IM.
Oliver Winder made the final of the 100m breaststroke, before finishing eighth, while Lauren Murphy, Victoria Abbott, Gemma Trott, Tom Winder, David Allen, Chris Murphy, George Borthwick and James McFarland all competed too.
Meanwhile, Flitwick Dolphins U12 team began their 2013 Junior League campaign with a comfortable victory over rivals Linslade Crusaders, Newport Pagnell and St Ives.
Flitwick swimmers won 21 of the 49 events, despite many of novice swimmers competing for the first time.
Aiming to build on these successes, the club has introduced Flippers, a special introductory squad for children aged from six-to-12-years-old who want to develop their swimming and give the competitive side of the sport a try.
