Beds Road Club

Riders from Beds Road Club produced another strong performance at the second round of the Interclub competition.

Riders tackled the 30-mile course as Jon Friend continued his impressive form by winning by nearly a minute after being the first rider to set off.

Four other Beds Road riders finished in the top 10 as the club scored 162 points, 40 points clear of nearest rivals CC Ashwell.

Rosie Dunbar maintained her 100 per cent win record at the Team Keyne Youth Challenge by winning the U8s road race overall, while her brother Ben Dunbar narrowly missed out on a podium place.

Icknield Road Club’s Tim Davies took round three of the Beds Road Club Evening League Time-Trial series on the 10-mile course. First club rider home was Friend, while Rachel Armstrong took the win in the ladies category.

The juniors category is being keenly fought with Josh Roberts narrowly edging out Isaac Anstee by just two seconds.

Graham Laming and Jaouade Izzo took part at last Tuesday’s Hitchin Nomads Dave Gudgin 25-mile time-trial with Laming the fastest rider.

At the fifth round of the Corley Cycles/Abbeygate Developments Summer Series, Phil Holland rode to third in the category 3/4 race at the Milton Keynes Bowl.

Geoff Cooper finished sixth overall at the first of the summer series off-road triathlons, while also taking first V50 male prize.

Des Roberts made his triathlon debut in the Tri Crazy Sprint Triathlon series. He put a tough swim behind him by pegging back a number of riders on the bike, before finishing up with a 5km run around Bedford Park.

At the same event Gary Moore was first club member home, taking the V50 category in the process, with young Connor Hayward taking the 15-16 year-old age group.
