England crash despite Monty
CRICKET: Ex-Bedford School batsman Alastair Cook and Bedford Modern School spinner Monty Panesar couldn’t help England to level the Test series against Pakistan on Saturday.
Panesar had excelled with the ball, taking 6-62 in the second innings and 7-153 in the match as England needed just 141 to win, but they folded for a meagre 72 all out. Cook scored 94 in the first innings but just seven in the second, while Panesar was not out on nought. Pakistan now have an unassailable 2-0 lead and the next Test starts on Friday.
