Competition for top spot hots up

Luton District & South Beds League round-up

Competition at the top of the Premier Division of the Luton District & South Beds League is growing intense.

The top two both had 3-0 wins with Christians In Sport overcoming Ewe & Lamb and Stopsley Common beating Caddington Reserves.

Only one goal scored separates the two teams, but Christians In Sport have only conceded seven goals giving them a much better goal difference.

Lewsey Park had a good 7-0 victory over Stopsley Park IIs with goals from Karl Rogers (2), Robbie Adam (2) and a hat-trick from Jamie Hart.

Another good team performance meant this was a first clean sheet of the season for keeper Antony Haydon.

The final game in the division saw USL Galactico's pick up a good 5-3 win at Offley Social.

Scoring for Offley were Shaun Fahy and a Nathan Blankley double.

In Division One, only one game was played which saw 61FC IIIs overcome Square FC 4-0.

The Luton News Cup semi-final between St Joseph's IIs and Luton Leagrave IIS saw Joes set up a final between themselves and last year's winners Christians In Sport IIs.

With normal time finishing 1-1, St Joseph's raised their game in extra-time to win through 2-1.

Eamonn Forde and Ricky Drew were on target for Joes, while Mark Crawford replied for Leagrave.

The Division One Cup finalists were decided with last year's champions Farley Boys winning through to the final again with an easy 6-1 victory over Co-Op Sports.

In the other semi-final Real F&E didn't have it quite so easy getting to the final as they battled past Christians In Sport IIs 4-3 after extra-time.
