Bedford & County AC’s men’s squad continued their excellent start to the winter season with another bronze medal-winning performance at the South of England Cross-Country Relays Championship.

The race was held over four legs of 5km at the Linford Christie Stadium at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday. The team was led off by Dan Dalmedo, returning after 12 months off with an injury, and he finished in a very solid fourth place in a time of 15.06mins.

New signing John Eves advanced the team to third, running an excellent 14.31mins, while Will Mackay edged Bedford up to second with a time of 15.07mins.

Despite another excellent run of 14.31mins by final leg runner Luke Humphreys, he was unable to hold on to second place as a very strong Belgrave runner pushed Bedford back into third place.

Bedford’s focus now moves on to the National Six Stage Relay on Saturday, where a hopefully strengthened squad should again be vying for a podium place.
