Brave Barnes-Homer is back for the Hatters

Bereaved striker asks to be included against his former club

Brave striker Matthew Barnes-Homer has put himself forward to be included in Town's squad for tomorrow night's visit of Kidderminster Harriers.

The 24-year-old striker missed Saturday 1-0 win against Wrexham on Saturday after his father passed away the night before.

Courageous Barne-Homer, though, returned to training today and is looking to be included against his former team, from whom the Hatters signed him the January transfer window for around 75,000.

Luton manager Richard Money said: "I spoke to him yesterday. He is back in training and wants to be involved tomorrow. Hopefully everyone will be a bit more understanding towards him.

"I don't think any of us can imagine what he has been going through over the last several weeks.

"I think his father would want him to get back involved and really show people here what he is about.

"Obviously his mind had been elsewhere at times and maybe now there maybe be some sort of lift off his shoulders and he can start to perform how we know he can perform."

And Money believes the fact it's his former team has helped to spur the striker on, saying: "I think that's another reason he wants to be involved."

Striker Liam Hatch and right winger turned right-back Adam Newton, meanwhile, are still missing with hamstring injuries.

But he is expecting a tough test from the Harriers despite the fact that they were beaten 5-1 at home by Stevenage Borough in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Money said: "Everyone will look at Stevenage's result and expect us to roll them over tomorrow. That's the danger.

"Prior to that they are 10 unbeaten and will come and make it really difficult for us."

And he thinks the Kenilworth Road pitch is improving thanks to the fine sunshine and said they may even get to water it before the game.

Money added: "I think when you put a lot of sand on it it takes extra time to bed in."
