BMS first VIII win Hampton Head for third successive year

Bedford Modern School rowers claimed their third consecutive victory at the Hampton Head on Saturday. A strong squad of girls and boys from Years 9-13 competed throughout the day, with the Year 9 pupils taking part in their first-ever race outside of Bedford
Highlight of the day was Modern’s first VIII achieving the fastest time at head as they completed the 3,000 metre course in 8.37mins, 2.2secs quicker than Hampton School.
The winning VIII comprised Todd Cartwright (cox), Ed Munno (captain of boats), Tom Sweeting, Glenn Tamkin, Andrew Taylor, Jack Pooley, Henk Kroon, Lloyd Mulkerrins and Alex Holbrook.
Ali Brown, director of rowing, said: “To win the Hampton Head for three years running is a fantastic achievement and gives the BMS squad huge motivation for the rest of the season.”
